The planet grows limbs it can lend. Jurai becomes a suite: modular apps for Ryoku, installable from the RyoStore.

A world you grow still has to fit through other people’s doors.

Jurai began as a shell: one monolith, my whole desktop, grown on a single machine for a single person. That was the seed, and the seed was good. But a shell only serves the one who wears it. So in the small hours of October 25 I took the planet apart (on purpose, piece by piece) and rebuilt the pieces as a suite: modular apps and applets for Ryoku, each one installable and uninstallable from the RyoStore, each one standing on its own.

Four pieces made the crossing first.

Yatagarasu 八咫烏: the notifications, live at v1.0.0. She carries the crow, and the crow is not decoration: the bird IS the product, packaged within her, perched at the bottom-right of the screen where the scrolls rise. A messenger with manners: the urgent never decay; the quiet know when to leave.

Mandara: reborn as a launcher. She was a palace once. Now she is simply a badass multifunction app launcher, built for the store from birth.

Fūin 封印: the lock. A seal, done properly.

The fastfetch: an original design in the house grammar, prism rules and one identity line that says what we are now: JURAI · 樹 · modular apps & applets for Ryoku.

Hymn, the bar, waits her turn. A rice and a bundle will gather them all into a single install.

The standard. No piece is done until it passes the store’s own gates and survives a full cycle on hyperion, my two-core EliteBook: install, activate, remove: and the host falls back clean, as if the piece was never there. Install only what you run. Nothing rides along. If it isn’t light on two cores, it isn’t done, because the suite is for people with lesser devices too, not just the bros with badass rigs.

Developing for someone else’s house. Ryoku is Carlos’s distro; the RyoStore is his store, and its laws are learned the hard way. The hardest: a dev install is only a rehearsal. The store’s refresh reconciles to the published catalogue and wipes whatever isn’t truly listed. So the rehearsal rule became the spec: installable from the RyoStore itself, or it isn’t done. My first submissions sit in review now: pull requests #133, #134, #135, waiting on a stranger’s judgment of whether the work is clean enough for his shelves.

That’s the point. That’s the whole point.

The monolith rests. The old shell stood down the same morning: frozen, not deleted, wakeable in one command. Nothing is orphaned. What happens to the rest of her gets decided after the setup stands, not before.

Seed was the planting. This is the first thing the planet grew that it can hand to someone else. Through this I make my digital name and show my digital face: callsign only, work in the open, every piece finished like strangers will judge it.

They will. Good.

Postscript, same day, 1:12 PM: the review came back. All of it. Merged. The suite is live in the RyoStore. (See: Merged.)
